Hon. Nanette M. Warner (Ret.)

Of Counsel

After serving as a Superior Court Judge in Pima County for over 24 years, in June 2010, Judge Warner transitioned from the bench to private practice where she emphasizes:

  • Dispute Resolution
  • Family Law
  • Guardianships/Conservatorships
  • Expert Witness/Case evaluation

In the area of Dispute Resolution, she serves as a mediator and arbitrator in family law and other civil cases. Additionally, she serves as a parenting coordinator in family law cases. She also has a limited practice in representing parties in contested family law cases. Also, she also represents people who are the subject of guardianship and conservatorship cases in Superior Court. She is also available for consultation as an expert witness and for case evaluation.

Judge Warner continues her community work by serving as a member of the Commission on Trial Court appointments in Pima County, member of the Governing Body of the Arizona State Hospital, board member of the Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona, board member of the Dance Advisory Board of the University of Arizona and board member of the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy.

Biography

Judge Warner graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1976 and thereafter returned to Tucson to practice law. As a native Arizonan, she felt most at home in the clear blue skies and desert terrain of Southern Arizona. For almost 10 years she practiced civil litigation, with an emphasis on complex personal injury, declaratory judgment and employment cases. After being appointed to the Superior Court in December 1985, Judge Warner served on the Civil, Criminal, Family and Juvenile benches. She did two rotations on the juvenile bench totally 9 years and served as the presiding juvenile court judge. She had three rotations on the family law bench and twice served as the presiding family law judge. Additionally, she had several rotations on the civil and criminal benches. She started the Mental Health Court in Pima County Superior Court for persons convicted of felonies who have serious mental illness and presided over several high profile murder cases. Since leaving the bench, she continued her legal education by attending the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School.


In 1999, she was awarded the American Bar Association award for judicial excellence for her work in leading the reformation of the child welfare case handling in juvenile court. In 2006, she was selected as the Women of the Year for Pima County for her community work. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her service to the legal system, courts and community. She serves as a Professor of Practice at the James E. Rogers College of Law, where she teaches Advanced Family Law Practice.


She serves as a Judge pro tempore and a judge recalled to service in the Superior Court in various counties in Arizona. She conducts settlement conferences in Pima County Superior Court.


In the past, she was co-chair of New Judge Orientation, teaching all new Superior Court Judicial Officers. She is a regular speaker at legal education programs and serves on planning committees for educational programs
